As I was approached to make the logo proposal for the Lisbon based “São Vicente – Alfama Hotel” the image of the crow came to my head instantly.



Context:
In Portuguese folklore, St. Vincent’s remains were rescued by the founding king D. Afonso Henriques on an old temple, and during the sail, two crows followed the ship all the way back to Lisbon.
To this day Lisbon’s coat of arms still has the ship and the crows.



The briefing asked for something not minimalist but modern. Being situated In Alfama, one of the most famous regions in Lisbon, iconic for the architecture and the topographic nature, the lines that cut the lettering represent the hill that it is located In
